STATE FAIR 2008

We left Thursday evening for the State Fair. It was a long ride with the dogs and the kids. After a 2 hour ride, we came up on some construction near the hotel. Jenny Lee went with us and we both couldn't find the turn in in the dark. After we went around the detour and still couldn't get into the hotel, we decided to go through the road block. After a while, there were these huge pipes in the road. So, we turned around and after another 15 minutes we got into the parking lot. We unload everything and get to the front desk and check in, the guy tells us it would be better to drive around back. Now, we have 5 people, 2 suitcases, 2 dogs and a cooler. Everyones arms were full. So, we go back out to the van and reload everything we just took out 5 minutes before.

This is our first night at the hotel.

This was the area for our County to set up. We had a good sized area with tables set up for lunch. There WAS a concession stand set up. Let me tell you... Thank GOD we brought our own water! A plain bottle of water (16 oz) was $3.00!!! One of those fair pretzels you get was $3.50. There were booths with water bowls, brushes, leads, collars, treats, and arm bands. There was another booth called: Dog gone good braids, where people would braid your hair for show.

Before your dog can go into the building, they have to have a Vet check them out. As well as see the vet forms. Vet check started at 8 am. We got there at 7am and this was the line. It went farther behind the picture also. People got there almost 2 hours BEFORE Vet checks start to get in first. The Vet had to do a real good check on Molly to make Sure she wasn't starting to go into heat. The girls were in line almost 2 hours and there were tons of people behind us!

This is the girls waiting to go through the line.
