Tuesday July 22nd,
Estelle Getty of the Golden Girls died.
She was 84. The Golden Girls was one of my favorite shows. I loved watching them every morning on Lifetime when I was pregnant with Courtney and Sarah. There wasn't much else to do though but watch T.V. Watching the show, I felt as if I was there in Miami. Even at a young age Courtney and Sarah would watch the show with me. They never asked about the jokes, they just laughed right along with me. When they were..... oh, about 3, the girls could sing the theme song word for word. It was so sweet.
I remember a episode where Dorthy was dating a guy and Sofia was liking buying non Generic items. Sofia said "If I'm gonna put a stick in my ear, I want some cotton on the end of it". Isn't that the truth! I have gotten the CVS brand of Qtips. Not the same!
I also remember her putting a curse on a man who stood her up at the alter. " From this day forward, may you and all your future generations never know true love. May you and all your offspring be sterile, may your hair never lay flat, and May your socks always slip into your shoes."
There was another episode that I loved.... The one where Dorthy brought Sofia's sister to America. I loved their fights! It was so funny! I wished I could remember some of the lines! What a HOOT!!!
