Sam is 5 years old, and he has only been to the vet, the river and Mom and Dad's house. He is just too big and powerful to handle anywhere else. We wanted to take him to the park, and other places, because he is so wonderful and handsome, but He practically dislocates my shoulder when he's on the leash. Well, last Tuesday was his first training lesson. On Wednesday, the kids had a 1/2 day of school. They begged me to go to Norwayne Field, and work the dogs. I really didn't want to since it is so close to the highway, and usually there is people there. But I didn't want to discourage the kids from working the dogs. So, here I go with 3 kids and 2 dogs to town. At first, Sam was a maniac. Peeing on everything and sniffing everywhere. Courtney was almost in tears, because he wasn't listening. I explained to her that she has to be (in Cesar's words) the pack leader. She needed to be the boss or Sam will just think "I'm not listening to some kid, I could pull around". So, after he got all of the sniffing out of his system, he was wonderful! See Courtney walking Sam in the picture? There also were some kids skateboarding near by, and he just walked right on by them. Normally, he would drag me over to them to play. Talk about crazy!

Then there was Molly, just being a puppy. She was super cute, chasing leaves, and jumping. She got better, but Sarah wasn't acting bossy enough. Both dogs walked great with me right off the bat, because they know I'm the boss. They aren't used to listening to the kids. Molly has a lot of work to do, but She's a blank slate, and learns fast. I just can't wait to take them to the Mint Fest this summer like tons of other people do.
