For all the dog lovers out there.

You know I have been around dogs all my life. Big, medium, and small dogs. I have been around many well mannered dogs and some that tried to eat part of my face off. Most of what I have learned about training dogs comes from my Dad and Uncle Tom. Growing up, and still now, I just love to watch the dog shows, the Ultimate Dog Challenge, and my new Favorite, Cesar Milan. I have always been intrigued by the dogs who just sit there. I have been around Brittney's, Lab's, Rottwilers, as well as some mixed breeds. I don't say mixed breeds as those Labrodoodles and such. Those to me aren't a.... what's the word.... pure dogs, they are mutts like those mutts that are running around the town of North Judson.

Out of all the dogs I have been exposed to, my all time favorite just has to be the Labrador Retriever. They are such great dogs, smart, and friendly. When David's friend, Kerry had a litter of Lab puppy's, David and I thought that this was the perfect time to get a dog for the family. It took some time, but Sam is a very well mannered dog. He gets along well with everyone and every dog, so far. When one of my patients gave me the opportunity to get the Chocolate Lab that I have always wanted, David and I decided that we should go ahead, and get Molly.
After Molly came home,I thought that this would be the perfect time to train her to fetch the dummy like Sam does, as well as learn a few other things. I started to search on line for a better, faster way to train her. That's when I came across Dean Rankin's training material.

I started to listen to his material and I taught Molly to"touch". This is where I get her to touch the palm of my hand when I tell her to. This will come in handy when I want her to switch sides when we walk together. He also recommends to kennel train for potty training. We are already doing that, and she likes to sleep there even when the door is open. My thoughts are that I can let you know how we are progressing. So, I'll be letting you guys know how our training is going from time to time.

Good for you that your training! Rankin is good if you want one of your kids to do the training from the Audio/Video page instead of reading a book. (Just do not send them money) A good book that I found easy to read, and was recommended to me, is Purely Positive Training by Sheila Booth....Good Luck and have fun!! Keep us posted on your progress....Mom :-)
